I am thrilled to announce that I have been appointed as one of three new Adventure Officers for World Next Door! For those of you who don’t know me, I am the "mindful" baby brother of Sonya Lowery, and an avid traveler. Think Anthony Bourdain with a permanent tan, and without the tats and rockstar persona. I believe that I bring a unique and immersive experience to traveling with friends!
I am passionate about discovering the hidden gems of the world and connecting with the people who call those places home. With a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and traditions, I hope to share my experiences with you and inspire you to explore the world with open eyes and hearts. As we embark on this new journey, I am excited to share these next adventures with all of you.

Let's give a warm welcome to David as he hosts his first group tour with us here at World Next Door. Some of us will be traveling solo while others will have roommates, but we'll be sharing a few excursions together with plenty of time for individual exploration. It's important that we communicate if we plan on venturing out on our own or if we're unable to make an excursion. As members of an extended family, we should all have each other's backs.

Day 1 - Friday: Depart USA-Arrive in BelizeList Item 1
Depart Washington for an afternoon arrival in Belize. Check into the lovely Alaia Belize resort, where upscale amenities meet laidback locally inspired Caribbean living. You will have exclusive access to a wine club, spa, six restaurants, four bars, and three pools, including Belize’s first-ever suspended rooftop pool and lounge. Located in historic San Pedro, you'll have easy access to town via golf cart to immerse yourself in the local culture. Alaia Belize sits on 1,000 feet of Mar de Tumbo beach, just 600 yards from the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve and on-site excursions shop.
Enjoy the World Next Door Welcome Dinner at local restaurant. Want to extend the evening? Join other resort guests for a "Cuban Night" after-party at the resort, 9 - midnight.

Day 2 - Saturday
After breakfast, enjoy your full day excursion to Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley, and Caye Caulker. Includes Lunch.
Enjoy dinner on your own and meet for Live Jazz at the resort, 9-midnight.

Day 3 - Sunday
Start your day off right with a rejuvenating and inspiring experience led by our expert breathwork yogi, David.
Join him before breakfast for a transformative mindful session that will leave you feeling refreshed, energized and centered. Lunch & Dinner on your own.

DAY 4 - Monday
After breakfast, you have a full day of exploration! We'll embark on a journey around mesmerizing Ambergris Caye! Our mode of transportation? A golf cart, of course! As we make our way around the island, we'll be dazzled by the diverse selection of bars and restaurants that pepper the main road.
We'll also explore some of the island's hidden gems, including the serene and secluded Secret Beach, and take in the sights and sounds of San Pedro town with a few carefully selected stops along the way.
And when it comes time to refuel, we'll make a pitstop at the trendy Truck Stop for dinner. This lively hotspot offers an array of mouthwatering dining options and is the perfect place to sit back, relax and soak up the electrifying atmosphere (meals not included).

DAY 5 - Tuesday
Today is the perfect day to schedule those spa treatments with a day at leisure. This afternoon, we'll gather for lunch that's perfect for a casual day out! We're serving up a mouthwatering BBQ feast, featuring a delectable array of Belizean and Jamaican dishes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
And the best part? You can come dressed in your swimsuit if you'd like! This is the perfect opportunity to kick back, relax and enjoy a scrumptious meal in a fun and laid-back atmosphere. Dinner on your own.

DAY 6 - Wednesday
After breakfast, explore the surrounding area at your own pace. You can choose to partake in one of the resorts optional excursions, or simply spend a day indulging in pure relaxation.
Whether you're feeling adventurous and want to explore the local sights and sounds, or prefer to take it easy and luxuriate in the serene atmosphere of the resort, the choice is entirely up to you. Lunch & Dinner on your own.

DAY 7 - Thursday
Make the most of your final day in paradise!
You have the freedom to spend it any way you choose, whether indulging in a day of pure relaxation or embarking on an optional excursion to discover the surrounding area.
To cap off our wonderful time in Belize, we'll gather for a special farewell dinner at a fantastic local restaurant that's just a stone's throw away from the resort.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of delicious cuisine, great company, and lively conversation as we bid farewell to this magical place. This is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the many memories we've made during our stay. Lunch on your own.

DAY 8 - Friday
Depart Belize/Arrive USA
We'll check out and prepare to bid adieu to this beautiful destination and head back to DCA. Our flight returns to DCA at 10pm!

Passport/ Entry Requirements
PASSPORTS are required for all US citizens traveling abroad and must be valid through December 8, 2023. Visas are not required for US Passport holders to Belize.
Assure that your name appears on your trip reservation exactly as it appears on your passport. Airlines apply penalties if it is necessary to make corrections to your name either in the air record or on your ticket.
Roommates
Some of us will be traveling solo, others have roommates. If you are interested in avoiding the single supplement cost, we would be happy to help you find a roommate (if there is someone else looking for the same). We cannot guarantee that we can match you, but we will try and have always had very high success rates doing so! Just let us know at the time of sign up if you would like us to help match you.
We consider everyone extended family so we look out for each other. There are several different room choices for you to consider, whether you are traveling alone, with friends, or with a significant other.
Luggage
Each person is allotted one checked bag not to exceed 50 pounds and one small carry on piece. If you exceed the baggage limits, you will be subject to excess baggage charges assessed by the airlines.
Weather & Packing
In December, you can expect for temperatures to range from the mid 70s to mid 80s. Evenings will be cooler since the resort is on the water.
Dress is casual: swimsuits, beach attire, sandals, a pair of comfortable walking shoes, water shoes if you own them, and 1 or 2 nice outfits for dressing up in the evening if you desire.
Travel Insurance
When booking, it is VERY important that you sign up for travel insurance with the uncertainty of today's climate. Do yourself a favor - Buy it! It is the traveler's responsibility to purchase insurance on their own, and I recommend you do this right after booking the tour. Recommended providers: Allianz, TravelGuard, AAA.
Resort Location & Free Time
Since this trip will allot ample time to rest, relax, and recharge, we have selected a luxury resort with comfortable amenities. It is an oceanside resort so you will have easy access to the beach and plenty of time to enjoy time with old and new friends or to spend some time solo for relaxation & self reflection.
elize has over 230 miles
of coastline and hundreds of cayes (pronounced "keys"). During free time, you may wish to take excursions to other cayes which will require a boat ride or a short flight.
You will be sent a link before the trip to join our group chat. You will need to download the GROUPME app. It is what we will use to communicate with each other while on our trip.
